After wandering through the famous ‘Christmas shop’ in Rudesheim and admiring so many beautiful Christmas decorations, including music boxes, snow domes and delightful Christmas scenes, I headed off to the chairlift to go up to the big monument on the hill. I was alone in the gondola and it was a long way up. Yet again, it was only the prospect of some good photos that gave me the courage to go on that ride.
The views from the chairlift, and from the cafe area near the chairlift exit, was quite spectacular. I must confess that after all that, I never did see the monument, which was further up again along a path. I decided to have an ice cream with friends I have made on this cruise instead. Good decision in terms of enjoyment - poor decision in terms of my waistline!
After that I went back down on the chairlift and wandered some more through the village on that lovely sunny day, in a state of complete contentment.
