The start of my story, 7 March 2017

This is the story of an 8-month journey around the world, the only way I can see Great Britain  and Europe without flying. My journey has been a long time in the planning. Prior to this, I have journeyed  to remote parts of Australia by land and sea. Its timeless rugged beauty, its rich geological and cultural history, and its vibrant colours are profoundly moving. They have been unforgettable journeys of the mind and spirit, not simply sight-seeing tours. I suspect that this next 8 months likewise will be extraordinary.

I took the photo below when sailing along the Kimberley Coast in 2015 - a stunningly beautiful part of Australia! And now as I write this I am sailing along the coast of north Queensland on the way to Borneo. The sunsets have not been as colourful and yet, beautiful silver reflections have rippled along the water as though reaching out to me as I stood on my balcony. Just magical!
