Bruges, Belgium Part 2 - back to Bruges via the castle Kasteelbossen

On the way to Bruges from Damme, we visited a small castle called Kasteelbossen. There are many small castles in Belgium, apparently. This one was set in extensive tranquil gardens, and was full of some very interesting art work and pieces of furniture, mostly with a religious theme. I was stunned to see a stuffed bear near the entrance! I gather one of the relics important to the Belgium church was hidden from the Nazis at this castle during WW2.

I have not captioned the following photos except for the first. The photo of the rich pattern is of a beautiful rug. I think you would agree with me that these rooms speak of a close, devout family. Hunting was clearly a favourite pastime, as was enjoying music together. The rooms were small and quite plain in comparison with the baroque and rococo styles I have seen, but far more peaceful and pleasant. I very much enjoyed seeing this castle.

The promised storks from the previous post. I zoomed in at a lucky moment.
